Worked great, then….. ILO 3200 32 in. LCD TV I purchased this unit at Wal-Mart some 80 days ago and it provided an excellent picture and functionality, that is...
Purchased this set as a replacement for a Sanyo model I had in the kitchen that was not HD compliant and had a horrible contrast ratio and narrow viewing angle.
This is a nice unit for the money, having a host of inputs, the requisite flat-panel styling and the necessary tuners to handle all the existing analog and digital stations.
Unit supports HDMI as well as VGA computer connections although I’ve tested neither. Unit will eventually be connected to satellite HD, but is currently using roof antenna to acquire OTA broadcasts. This unit cost me a few dollars more than the Sanyo it replaced, but it’s display is 19″ widescreen versus the 15 inch Sanyo 4:3 format. There are some smaller cheaper HD panels, but I opted to spend the extra fifty bucks or so to get more screen real estate.
Picture quality is great, but not fantastic. Contrast ratio is significantly better than my older Sanyo. Viewing angle is also much improved. Assessment of picture quality is very subjective. Unit can be viewed at most Walmarts. In addition to every type of input currently available, this model also has a headphone jack. There may be a back panel line out as well, but the Sanyo I had didn’t have any audio out option, so I could not add any external amp or speakers. Probably not a big deal for most folks, and not a deal killer for me, but I like the flexibility of adding one of those inexpensive, small amplified subwoofer units for added tonal quality.
Television comes equipped with a stand alone base for tabletop usage, but also has the same standard flat panel wall mounting setup as most (wall brackets optional), so replacing my Sanyo required removing and replacing four screws on my existing swing arm mounting bracket.
I’m reserving judgment on the usefulness of the VGA monitor connection until I get time to check it out. It might work well with my Asus eeePC as a kitchen docking solution.
Television takes about six seconds to display channel once power is pressed. You have to wait through a Polaroid startup logo (I’m going digging into the menu to see if I can stop that, but I’m not hopeful. As always, will update review to reflect). Not sure what’s going on for those six seconds? Minor irritation resulting from lifelong immersion in a culture of instant gratification. Much quicker startup than when we had to ‘wait for the tubes to warm up’.
Enjoy.
