I’d just moved into a new apartment on the East Coast, and since the move was cross country, taking my old TV wasn’t the best option. I needed to buy another one. My apartment is on the small side, and a huge TV would have been overkill, so I wanted something smaller, and I didn’t want to spend a fortune for it. Shopping for options at Circuit City, I spied the “Element Electronics FLX-2210 22″ HD LCD TV, which displayed an excellent picture and was a good bargain at $349.

My first question to the salesman was, “Element Electronics? Never heard of that brand.” Apparently Element Electronics is a Circuit City brand. Okay, that explains the bargain price. The salesman assured me it was a quality product and that they’ve had no complaints. Taking that with a grain of salt, I looked at the features and decided for the price it was worth it not to have a well-known name brand.

Okay, I am not a technological whiz. I’ve NEVER hooked up a TV before by myself. But with a simple cable TV hookup, I did it with no problems. I don’t have DVD player yet, so that simplified it for me. Of course this TV will work with your DVD player and has all the connections available.

A User’s Manual is included, as well as a Quick Start Guide, which were both very helpful and relatively clear and easy to understand. A remote control was also included, with batteries.

The TV itself is nice looking I suppose - it features a brushed silver, I guess you’d call it, body that surrounds the screen. The speakers are located all along the bottom of the screen. It fits onto a round stand - it just presses in. There is a “handle” on the back of the TV, just an indent really, where you can grip it in order to move or reposition the TV. This TV is light! So very easy to pick up and move if necessary. It has the flat screen thing going on - you know - you could even wall mount this if you want. Some people may prefer a black frame, but the silver is okay with me. The stand seems sturdy and supports the TV just fine.

The remote control is pretty basic - it’s also silver colored. Since I’m using this with cable, I don’t use the actual TV remove very often, I used the cable remote. I see the TV’s remote has buttons for S. Mode, MTS, P. Mode, Caption, Sleep, and P. Size. I have played with the picture size button, and you can get wide screen, cinema, normal by changing the picture size. It’s fun to play with, but “normal” turns out to work the best.

~ My Experience

The Element Electronics FLX-2210 HD LCD Television has performed beautifully, has a crisp, natural picture with true colors. The 22″ size is large enough for my smaller room. Viewing this TV from an angle works well and the picture doesn’t seem distorted or hard to see.

The stereo sound is decent. I don’t know about the “simulated surround sound”. I can’t say that I’m getting much of a surround sound effect, but all in all I have no complaints about the speakers or the sound. I’m sure on larger TV’s you’ll get a better speaker system, but this works good enough for me.

For my money, this Element TV has all the features I would ever want, the picture is great, the sound is good, it looks nice - I couldn’t ask for more!
