For under $2,000 you cannot find a better 1080p LCD. The picture looks beautiful, and I wouldn’t return mine for the world, but there are a couple negatives.
1. The remote is very non responsive. You have to hit the button numerous times to get it to work.
2. This TV does not up convert to 1080p, which isn’t that big of a deal since it accepts 1080p at least.
3. With the older models there was a lock up issue. This seems fixed now. Any LVM-42W2 with firmware 1.19 and higher seems fine.
4. If you have an Xbox 360 and decide you want to hook it up via VGA, you won’t be able to use 1366 x 768 as your resolution. The TV doesn’t accept it right. If you hook it up via component, your game and dashboard look great in 1080i, but you lose your DVD up convert that you get with VGA. 
5. Aspect Ratio options are limited. Fill and Standard are your two choices. What happened to zoom? 4:3? and all the other stuff?
Everything else is great, and if you plan on using HD DVD or Blue ray, this TV is definitely worth it.
