The 21″ CRT TV that i had in my bedroom recently died after over 12 years. Time for an upgrade. I definately wanted LCD and HDTV capabilities. There are many products out on the market. Most of the major brands for this type of device in the 26″ range cost around $1300. As i looked at them all lined up on the shelf i tried to figure out which one had the best picture. They are all about the same price right? so might as well get the best one. Well it’s hard to pick one on picture alone in that they ALL look great.
As i looked i noticed that one of these fine devices had i price tag that read $800 ! (the Westinghouse) how could this be? there must be something wrong with it right? well i did some homework and discovered that the Westinghouse had all of the features and performance of it’s higher priced brothers and sisters.
How could i turn down this bargain?
i now have had the Westinghouse in my bedroom for over a month. It works flawlessly. The picture quality is great. The sound is about as good as you might expect from two small speakers mounted in the cabinet . . but if you connect this to a receiver, like i do, it’s really not an issue. The nice thing is that the speakers are undernieth the screen and not on the sides. It allows it to fit in the nice TV amoure that i have in my bedroom.
The only thing that is a small pain is that you have to cycle through input choices to get to the one you want. So . . if you use a programmable remote to say . . turn on the TV, Amp, & satellite box; switch the amp to the satellite input and then switch the LCD to the right input . . you may not be able to access the input you need directly. This can make automation via remote macros a bit dicey if you use multipule inputs.
