We bought the Philips 32″ Model 32PF7321D LCD-TV (identical to the 32PF7421D except in cabinet color) 3 days ago and it is INCREDIBLY GOOD. What a happy entertainment choice!

Essentially this is an upgraded version of the lower-priced Magnavox 32MF231D and costs $400 more. It’s worth the difference. The Philips has no smell, seems to run cooler and delivers better sound. The SD - Standard Definition - images on the Philips and Magnavox are unmatched by other LCD TVs however it does not clean up cable or satellite signals quite as well as the HP LC3200 but it’s very close. That discontinued HP is still available from some internet outlets.

The Philips remote also has more buttons than the Magnavox LCD TV allowing for access to more features without running through as many menus.

Home videos shot on our SD miniDV camcorder look better on the Philips than on any LCD TV I tried including HP, Sharp, Olevia or Sony. VHS looks okay too.

Check out the 14:9 & 16:9 picture expansion features to enlarge the size of letterboxed movies from non-HD channels. Both provide bigger images WITHOUT distortion !!!

DVDs play back beautifully using component inputs on the Philips from a standard Magnavox progressive DVD player WITHOUT upconversion.

You want and expect HDTV to be awesome and it is - truly as good as any 32″ other HDTV in any technology.

The built-in ATSC/QAM and NTSC tuners make this a set a winner. You can get free over-the-air HDTV signals with a good quality antenna if you are in the right location.

Negative-

The first set had a problem getting it to turn on. That problem should have been caught in QC check before shipping.
