Purchased at Sears for $550 after last year’s Superbowl frenzy, this unit displays great images from a multitude of sources I have operating in my bedroom media center. With only a slight delay, I switch between my DVD recorded/player (Accurian ADR-3223) on Component 1 input, my high-definition receiver (Dish Network VIP 622DVR) connected to Component 2, my upconverting DVD player (RCA DRC257N) connected to the HDMI input, my computer connected to the VGA port, and a weather station displaying local WX conditions via my AV 1 port. All displays appear clear with no artifacts or other disturbances.
The built-in speakers (bottom left and right) are clear but minimal for quality listening. Mostly I use the monitor’s headphone jack on the right side of the panel. I like the way the audio ramps up to preset volume when coming off of mute. The unit does have one other audio output (optical digital S/PDIF) to accommodate my future plans for a slimline 6.1 surround system source, but I find the headphone jack totally adequate for now. I would consider it suitable, but a bit small, for my main monitor in the family room. I do notice a tint of cyan color in the upper left and right corners with a totally black background present. But its not noticeable for normal viewing. HDTV at 1080i (its max. and equal to 1366 x 768) is beautiful.
